Doubts and uncertainty about future use
The Ministry of Science and Technology of Argentina warned in a statement on “misleading propaganda” and conduct “fraudulent” about the preservation of stem cells as well as doubts and uncertainty about their future use.

The statement said “many private companies that manage commercial cord blood banks made misleading propaganda, to extol the curative potential in several diseases where there is still no clinical evidence for it.” The commission argues that for the families who preserved umbilical cord blood, likely to need in the future “is very low.”
Consequently, “store privately, for personal or family use is no guarantee since for a particular disease may not be appropriate to use, or may not be appropriate for another family member (not being compatible, for example) or to eventual if needed, the amount of stored umbilical cord blood may not be sufficient or suitable for the prescribed treatment. ”
Currently, only advisable to store the blood of a child when the family has another child who has or had a disease that could be treated with bone marrow transplants.
