The freedom of man and its actions is more preached than ever from all the stages of the world. Probably we feel a certain lack of freedom as we do that and with speeches we try to compensate that. But one of the problems of the people is the fact that they cannot control their own bodies and minds. The issues of drugs and alcohol consumption are really hard to cope with and many families and individuals suffer from this.
For many the only way to get out of this bondage is to go to a drug rehab center. Here they will get all the assistance and support they need in order to get better. The program of drug rehab has a holistic approach. This means that not only the medical problems are treated. Drug and alcohol consumption has various causes and in many instances there are deeper problems that need to be addressed. Both drug and alcohol rehab are tough because the patient is taken from his familiar environment and has to stay in a new place for a certain period of time. Here they have to comply with certain rules and they totally change their circle of friends.
For many people the time spent in drug rehab centers seems very long. But in the end they know that it is for their own good. Actually it is an action of will combined with the proper medical treatment. The patients are taught things that will help them after they get out of the center. They learn to control their anger and how to resist the temptation. Also they take part in group and individual therapies. For some the spiritual part makes a lot of difference so they are counseled in this respect. No matter the type of treatment applies, the best result will be to have a complete recovery.
The 12 step program from Alcoholics Anonymous has been used extensively in alcohol treatment programs with varying levels of success. The 12 step program is likened to a fellowship and belief in God or a higher power is an integral part of the program.
This 12 step model is also frequently used at drug rehab centers, also with varying degrees of success.
As the success rate for drug rehabs as not impressive, centers started adopting a non 12 step drug rehab approach in hopes of helping more people to free themselves from their addictions. This novel approach was used for people suffering with drug and alcohol addictions.
These days, a drug addict or alcoholic has the choice of attending drug rehabilitation centers with a 12 step or non 12 step approach. The 12 step programs are still the most common approach used today, but there is a wealth of information online for those suffering from drug addiction about all the different types of treatment options.
If one program doesn’t work, please don’t give up, there are many options for recovery. If you were offended by a 12 step program, there are options such as non 12 step drug rehab that don’t involve turning “our lives over to the care of God.” or to “have God remove all these defects of character”.
